Near the Heart of Africa is a place so beautiful it will take your breathe away unlike anything you have ever imagined. The wonder of this picturesque country will weave something far deeper into your soul, it is a place that has known violence beyond description. Rwanda’s history is dark and filled with hatred between its people and the Europeans. A history that you won’t fully understand until you have gone and lived among its people and cared for the young and old. At the entrance of every town were mass graves that said, “Never forget and never again!” Today they are still added to these mass graves as they continue to add to the number of dead, this is sobering and sets the mood into every village you enter. Yet Rwanda has a future now filled with hope and a spirit of unity unlike ever before paid for in blood. The sights around me awakened my heart to the sorrow and beautiful story of forgiveness and ability of human beings to forgive and move forward with the past as a guide to the future. Our  medical team walked through the dusty streets towards the hospital we came here to serve and that’s exactly what we planned on doing. These people have suffered enough. It is our time to give back. Thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed to this medical trip without you how could we change lives, it is a team effort in all we do to advance unity and service throughout the world of broken lives.
