At the dusk of each day, we all look back on the events unfolded. We are looking for something in the day that gave us Joy or satisfaction in short meaning, purpose making it important. How trivial each day can become if we are not looking for the most important thing in our days, the focal point that sets the tone of why we live life, simply yet powerfully put it is the glory of God. The very essence of our finite existence, what is the point if not to bring God Glory in everything we say and do. May we all at the end of these days granted be able to repeat the great theologian George Whitefield’s words:
” I go to a rest prepared: my sun has given light to many, but now it is about to set-no, to rise to the zenith of immortal glory. My body fails but my spirit expands. How willingly I would live to forever preach Christ. But to die to be with Him, what glory indeed.”
Such confidence this man uttered with every word why because He lived each day as if already it was his last for God’s glory alone- sola Gloria. Why is it that men and women give their lives to God if not for pursuing the upmost calling, which is to glorify God. I see no area of scripture that would do anything but beckon us to this calling. In this vein of truth I am challenged and made aware of all my shortcomings, conviction produces application. Friends let us take this gentle reminder and bear it in our souls as a branding mark, 1 Corinthians 10:31 that in everyday we lift His name above our own and all the voices that would distract our sole purpose on this blessed plot would disappear! Lift your knees each morning to bend down, and fold those tired hands together to raise your heart before the throne that let it beat once more on this new morn! He will supply every need and He will lift your weary knees, every step of the way, the path you tread He paved long before you ever took your first step upon it!
Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. – Hebrews 12:12-14
